Remembering a conversation I had with a lawyer about Ai last year. He talked about how useful LLMs were for his business. But what *really* excited him, was the prospect of watching Ai generated films, and never having to pay photographers for their work.
Like Pratchett said, knowledge is the only thing that looks bigger, the further you are away from it.

Yeah. I don’t consider it that, but for simplicity’s sake I used the term the devs use.
So much of the ‘Ai magic’ is just tightly focused models that run happily on local machines.
Adobe doesn’t want to known that, obvs.

My brother assisted my dad for a few years. Drove him mad. Hanging out with the lab rats from Push One (on the Kings Road Chelsea) kept him sane.

#Darktable introduced Ai Vector Masking in the latest nightly. From someone who spends *alot* of time barking at the Ai moon, it's very impressive.
Used as a tool for dodging and burning complex shapes, I'd say it's akin to to the masks I'd cut in the days of film.
Absolutely *not* interested in anything generative. For orchestrating the exposure, it's excellent.
Hats off to the developers.
Unlike Adobe, DT are making tools for artists, not turning artists into their tools (for profit).
