Several laws have been passed in recent years which aims to make life difficult for immigrants in Denmark, with severe side effects on other groups which happen to share similar life situations.Their buying power is very low relative to the costs of living in Denmark, so in effect poverty exists within the Danish welfare state. They cannot legally leave the country to spend their relative prosperity, because that would forfeit their benefits.
