@dtm A European here, had to be fingerprinted to get a passport. When they started that, it was ’it’s only stored on the passport’, but quickly it became ’it’s stored on a server but not used by the police’, and obviously very soon the police was ’can we please use the fingerprint database even though everybody promised at first that it wouldn’t be given to use’.So. Not happy but I still like having a passport, and an ID card. (That one also requires fingerprints.)
