Nobody asked to be on the vanguard of this fight but here we find ourselves. When Trump won his second term, I posted about mourning what we are experiencing now. But the fight shifted - we are not just fighting for our rights, which may take many years, but for the rights of all who will follow.

I remember saying this after coming out during Trump 1... it was a hell of a time then too. There's never a "perfect" time to come out. Even if we lose every protection possible in law, we still have each other, and there will be places we can exist safely, obtain our care, and thrive.

Pretty clear that this will be the vehicle SCOTUS will use to deny equal protection to transgender people. While the case will be about sports, that decision would essentially strip all rights on transgender status or sex for trans people. It would make virtually any law permissible.

State department guidance is now up for transgender people who want to change their gender marker on their passports. Your window opens NOW to make it happen, with some caveats: data will be collected on changes. EITM was the first media outlet to report this breaking development for trans people.

This may be transgender people’s only route to update their passports for potentially up to 10 years with a correct gender marker. There is no telling how long the window will be open. IMO the best way will be to have an upcoming trip to Canada or Mexico and apply in person at an office.

It is possible that the guidance may propagate slowly though so people are still advised to follow the ACLU’s faq. Some who were denied were called back in today. My guess is by tomorrow or the next day all offices will be in compliance.

Relatively good news for trans people coming shortly. I've sat on an important development and spent a lot of time confirming things, should have the story out in an hour or two.

Absolutely HORRIFIC decision by UPenn. Will scrap all of Lia Thomas' wins, will adopt "biological definitions" for Title IX under Trump's order, and more. Some of this could lead to bathroom bans at UPenn too given the admin views bathroom usage as in violation.

Heads up, the fight is not over with respect to the trans care medicaid amendment. Marjorie Taylor Greene has reintroduced it on the House side. Call your house reps now and tell them not to approve it. Even republicans, especially moderate Republicans.
