so 3 courts + US Copyright Office say you cannot copyright nor patent anything made primarily with LLMs because automata aren't human. -
2003: children shouldn't tell their age, name, or personal information to anyone on the internet for their safety@imbl they're making trans kids more groomable by isolating them. It's literally a Jeffery Epstein conspiracy
-
Substack is now doing age verification, and using Persona, the same company Discord was gonna use.@Starcross @writefreely @notsle anything LGBT or anti genocide is being censored, and that's the whole point if this

Most people only have a very vague idea how US national security and foreign policy decisions are made.@HeavenlyPossum @richpuchalsky this seems to be a valid thesis. I also think their ICE strategy is pretty dumb. If I were them I'd have done it very differently but they can't help.but do a spectacle instead of diffusing it enough that we didn't have the ability to put together a resistance. Hopefully their incompetence means they will make crucial mistakes that help us fight back

Colorado pushing for age verification on the OS level https://www.pcmag.com/news/colorado-lawmakers-push-for-age-verification-at-the-operating-system-level@FelisCatusDomesticus @cwebber I didn't have a "trivial mind" at that age

Colorado pushing for age verification on the OS level https://www.pcmag.com/news/colorado-lawmakers-push-for-age-verification-at-the-operating-system-level@FelisCatusDomesticus @cwebber you can't exactly do that individually on a dime like that

Colorado pushing for age verification on the OS level https://www.pcmag.com/news/colorado-lawmakers-push-for-age-verification-at-the-operating-system-level@cwebber times like these make me glad that I don't ever throw away working computer hardware. My 15 year old paranoia is paying off for reasons I couldn't have anticipated. The ram in that broken laptop's probably worth something these days

Colorado pushing for age verification on the OS level https://www.pcmag.com/news/colorado-lawmakers-push-for-age-verification-at-the-operating-system-level@cwebber @FelisCatusDomesticus true, high schoolers are walking out coast to coast so often I see it in the headlines at least every couple of weeks
What's changed is that we all know our "representitives" don't care and won't listen

Speaking as a parent my current opinion on internet age verification laws is that after the state starts putting the Epstein class in prison en masse then maybe we can start taking anything else they say about protecting children seriously. -
Speaking as a parent my current opinion on internet age verification laws is that after the state starts putting the Epstein class in prison en masse then maybe we can start taking anything else they say about protecting children seriously.@mhoye it's part of Epstein's transphobia conspiracy. His same friends like haidt are pushing both

Western Digital has recently announced that it sold all of the year's hard-drive inventory to AI companies.@campuscodi o wonder if there's gonna be a glut of hardware when the bubble pops

So it's not just that Discord is requiring pictures or IDs to verify age.@JessTheUnstill that's it I'm fucking done. Iml'm getting back into coding. Fuck all this proprietary Nazi tech I'm building better as an act of antifascist resistance

It's so weird how the whole "this tech is the inevitable future that we've all been building towards and any resistance to it is backwards, if not malignant" is being put out for AI but not solar tech, huh?@FediThing @foundseed @cwebber @MedeaVanamonde it kinda fizzled out because the tech wasn't quite ready. VR goggles seem like a more promising approach to the same idea. The thing that's holding back VR is cost. I'd get a headset if I could afford one
