@chuls @woe2you I have a peertube channel where I publish videos on a regular basis and then I have a few personal channels as well that I publish irregularly on. I do host my own, but I don't do anything fancy with it.
If I look at some of the more well established youtube channels that have a presence on peertube it seems they're getting a lot less views and engagement compared to the evil platform.
I'm seeing more views than I expected when I started vlogging on peertube but I wasn't expecting much to begin with 
If you want to make money with your videos then I'm not sure peertube is for you. I believe there's some experiments with monetisation, but peertube is not really a capitalist platform with algorithms and ads and creepy tracking and all that crap.
I've only recently started vlogging and made a conscious choice to only do so on peertube, because I believe peertube provides a future I want to see. Youtube does not. That's the most important thing for me, not engagement and views. You may have different considerations.
