@golgalothSeems to me Judaism pulling together multiple traditions in order to produce a set of laws laying out a moral code that were a marked improvement on what existed at the time, removed the whims of monarchs as the source of law, and tossed in improvements on public health practices for good measure is due a bit of applause.
