@Pepijn Moomin are popular everywhere. There are even videogames about them. I have, at the moment, two comic books and one novel myself and I plan to complete both collections.
I believe Spanish Pocoyo is popular too. So were Vicke Viking (Sweden) or Maya the Bee (Germany), to name a few.
