@malte unfortunately not And there is a lot of greenwash with hybrid vessels BTW. Like, it doesn't make your vessel much greener if you just install a big batterypack and then charge it by burning diesel fuel in your onboard generators:) If you connect to the powegrid in port it is a completely different story.

@malte another very viable option I see is to make it easy and desirable for shipping companies to bring passengers (again).. Any cargoship can legally bring up to 12 passengers. Right now some of the main obstacles are insurance and visa bureaucracy. I think this could be solved. Not as romantic as green sailing vessels, I know, but until capitalism burns down, these ships will be going all over the place anyway, and you would just be hitching a ride..

What I think would be extremely useful would be to have public accessible data for each ships a) total fuel consumption pr year and, b) total miles sailed pr year. This would give a quite cualified mean figure to compare ferries. This data surely exists, but not for the public eye. I know the Danish state requires shipping companies to report these kind of data on a company level already.
