a thing i have found younger researchers of the late 90s internet don't really appreciate is the number of ephemeral websites made by literal children.@rose_alibi I was there, and I remember all the "l33t h4xxorz" gatekeeping about "real programmers" vs "script kiddies" ... That culture hasn't really changed, just got a little more entrenched and took on more diplomatic language
