@inthehands I'm threading this in here, as my response seems to be getting a fair amount of sharing - this post goes into far more breadth and depth than what I alluded to: https://kolektiva.social/@anarchademic/115947133059546555

News about Friday’s march / rally / general strike in Minneapolis is coming at me from every direction.@inthehands Careful. KFAN's Paul Allen said that these are all paid protesters. Make sure you get your participation check before the gate closes.

News about Friday’s march / rally / general strike in Minneapolis is coming at me from every direction.@inthehands I think, in general, that's what the coverage about Minnesota is missing about community - the collective action, the mutual aid, etc. These are distributed, bottom up, and emergent. There's not the singular heroic figure to interview, no canonical organization directing it according to a roadmap. It moves and feels different because it is fundamentally different than how most western narratives portray change happening.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@heidilifeldman/115935239061836528This is Liam Ramos. He is 5 years old. He was abducted by #ICE on his way home from school and flown to an El Paso detention center.
This is what your tax dollars are paying for. These are the terrorists they are trying to protect you from.
We can't look away.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@heidilifeldman/115935239061836528@rasterweb Yeah, I'm sure. If I wasn't here, I'd probably assume this was just the same clashes between protesters and police we've seen over and over again.
But this is so much worse. I don't think most Americans can fathom an unaccountable goon squad grabbing and harming people (all people) at will.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@heidilifeldman/115935239061836528Meanwhile, Bovino is out there casually tossing tear gas like it's a party popper.
What kind of moral citizen would think this is OK? https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesota/comments/1qjatpt/bovino_using_the_green_stuff_in_uptown_minneapolis/

I need people outside #Minnesota to understand - the people being ruffed up aren't violent narco terrorists. These aren't dangerous, paid political agitators. The camo cosplayers are deeply disturbed bullies told they have impunity, getting their rocks off on anyone who dare tells them "no".
