Summer stands sentinel on the stairs. Her pal has gone up to take a nap. Anyone that would disturb him will have to go through her.
She is serious when it comes to taking care of her favorite human.
Pretty soon she will decide it's safe enough to go curl up next to him and nap facing the door.

Thankful this evening.

For the VA staff, whose efforts to put veterans first is at odds with their new management, but still on short notice, they fit us in, and expedite our access to care and antibiotics.

For my husband whose strength through catastrophic illness amazes me everyday. He worries more about Summer and I than himself. So many men in the news these day think they model toughness by doing stupid things like swimming in a contaminated creek. I live with a man who is genuinely tough as nails, and confident without being an asshole to boot. Thank goodness.

For Summer who has been so worried about her pal she couldn't bring herself to eat. She finally took pity on me, because I was worried about her, and she ate a decent dinner.

For our Mastodon friends for encouraging and cheering us on through the ups and downs of our quiet lives.
