The EU has not yet proven that it can resist pressure from the far right—and given its ideological, economic, material, digital, and social US-entanglements, it is far from clear that the EU will not eventually follow the same path.

Many Europeans are deluding themselves when it comes to geopolitics: driven by ideological convictions rooted in the unipolar era, they perpetuate enemy stereotypes, think in terms of blocs, and thereby set the stage for their own slide into authoritarianism
