@catsalad Very briefly during the holiday period a few years back, Apple suddenly hammered down on tumblr in a way that would remove them from the app store if they didn't do anything, and they chose to go overboard and ban a ton of tags, including girl. Also among the list that are in the "wtf" tier are: insomnia, CW, paint mixing, stim, stimboard, sugar, long post, and even more.

I think at the time there were a bunch of porn bots running rampant and that was why Apple cracked down on them, it was just the timing of it was the usual "nobody is fucking here, it's Christmastide" and they decided to just look at all of the tags porn bots were flooding and called it a day.

@catsalad Originally was back when tumblr banned the word "girl" or the porn ban, so pre covid, but I didn't stick around; when I actually stuck around it was starting in 2023 iirc.

There are pretty much just three reasons I actively want to replace my current phone: OS isn't getting any security updates (let alone normal updates), the camera hardware is mediocre even for its time, and there are a couple of broken or worn down parts that I just do not have the ability to replace and repair myself, & paying someone else to do it would be a good chunk to a new-er device.

If it were still getting updates - even just a quarterly security patch - I'd be fine with just paying someone to handle replacing the display (glass is pretty cracked) and battery (its aging a fair bit) and going from there. I technically have a second one with an even more fucked up screen & definitely need to be replaced battery, but the cost to fix em up just doesn't feel worth it when I can get a decent phone that'll allegedly last a good few years for not much more, with a couple of quality of life improvements I actually care about.

@hannah whoever lets this happen because let's be real, it won't be intentional by the operator, will be hailed as an accidental hero.

I'll accept student debt as an alternative.
