JOSM brings up an imagery context menu when you right click, and allows for panning when holding down the right mouse button. I don't see why this wouldn't be a great feature for iD as well.

So many harmful edits in OSM could be prevented if iD panned on right click instead of left click.

At TomTom I'm working with the team that fixes harmful edits/vandalism that occurs in OSM, and a significant portion of the edits I look at every day are just people accidentally dragging nodes in iD.

I'm assuming this topic has already been debated countless times tho
