The crew just named a crater of the Moon "Carroll", the name of the deceased spouse of one of the 4 astronauts (Reid Wiseman).@cmconseils Shoemaker was a planetary geologist who dreamed of going to the Moon but was disqualified from the Apollo program due to a medical condition. He dedicated his life to studying impact craters and co-discovered comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, which crashed into Jupiter in '94. He died in a car accident while crater hunting. As a tribute, NASA placed his ashes aboard the Lunar Prospector, which intentionally crashed into the Moon's south pole — making him the only human ever buried on the Moon.
