@jprjr @falcennial I'm fortunate that my employer encourages us to follow an "AI First" approach and periodically asks for feedback.
I know people working at other companies where management has been given KPIs for adoption and individual token usage is monitored.
tbh my most frequent use at work is pulling up Jira tickets without having to write my own JQL queries to get the same answer. But it's starting to become useful with day-to-day tasks.
I work as a technical writer, and a lot of people I know who work in that discipline have lost their jobs because management in US tech companies often feel that AI means everyone can write docs now and nobody will be reading because they'll be using a chat bot. The worm will turn when businesses realise the value they've lost, but until then it's a bad time for us collectively because the deep subject matter expert with decades of experience is being supplanted by the shallow generalist that can work cross-functionally and churn out copy.
