@jt_rebelo @FediTips Wait. I don't think I understand your post. When you import a video from YouTube in PeerTube, that's NOT a full copy but basically just a mirror? Meaning that changes to the video will change the video in PeerTube?

If so, that should be made SUPER clear in the UI because that sounds like a trap. It should be clearly visible to the creator when a video was added not as a full independent copy but is pulled from another site. This distinction is important IMO.

@FediTips Oh wait, you meant to tell YouTubers they should post on PeerTube as a means of collecting EVIDENCE for when YouTube has defaced your work? Interesting.

IMHO YouTube just needs to DIE. A platform that so blatantly HATES the own creators does not deserve anyone's time. PeerTube FTW!

(I'm not a YouTuber btw, the few videos I did post are all on a PeerTube instance anyway lol.)

@FediTips HOLY SHIT this is a new low even for YouTube. If YouTube just randomly alters content, there is ZERO reason for ANY creator to stay. Because who guarantees that YouTube will stop there? They could alter content so aggressively that it completely twists what you stand for, and DEFACING your hard work. YouTube could stab you in the back at any time by essentially posting FAKE content under your name.

Creators need to make a very LOUD STINK about this. Oh, and leave. This is BAD.
