@davidgerard I'm reminded of the "mannequins" a small regional airport in Japan (Tokushima Awaodori) used to show off the local fabric dyeing tradition, in the form of a dyed kimono.

The story goes that someone wanted a more realistic mannequin, and the best they could find was "a little too realistic" in certain ways. Though it did at least seem to be a "legitimate lack of common sense" rather than anything particularly untoward; I seem to recall a quote saying they would have bought one without "those" details had it been an option. (Though the main criticism I can find was the price, they paid ~$3k USD each for them...)
