    There's a certification in Sweden for food that promises environmental soundness AND animal welfare. This is strange to me. How can we assume that these two goals don't counter each other to some extent? Why would feeding 11 million people under circumstances that are good for animals also be environmentally friendly?

      They're typically not compatible - producing things organically and in animal-friendly ways typically emit more greenhouse gasses than industrial production.

      Edit: If you're producing the same amount of goods, that is. If we reduce out meat-consumption to match we might be able to produce organic meath without a climare-deficit.
