@Nickiquote pro-porn? Daily Mail lot are just pissed because they got exposed for those "all grown up" celeb articles over the years.

@Nickiquote Bloody Polanski! Wanting people to have a decent life! Thank goodness the staunch, crusty old troughers in Westminster are on the case!

@Nickiquote British, red, cross - a typical Daily Mail reader ( can't remember who said this).

@Nickiquote furious at them working AND using the NHS? Pick a lane!

@Nickiquote oh fuck right off daily mail. And the donkey you rode in on.

This, apparently, although the Mail are not publishing the apparently secret policy document so you can read it for yourself.

@sean @Nickiquote Anti-age verification (i.e. ID checks), maybe?

Doesn't it ever make people feel small to be this easy to rile up?
Like this is so ham handed. It's that "he might take your cookie, mate!" meme.
Maybe I have too much faith in people, but even if they have ideas about immigration I don't agree with ... shouldn't it feel bad to see people being so obvious in their manipulation. IDK.
I suppose it might be easier to see with the distance of an ocean between myself and this paper. We do of course have it over here too.

@futurebird There is a regular Viz comic strip called “The Male Online” which is about a stereotypical Mail reader, in a constant state of spitting fury about immigrants and woke. Unfortunately it’s not too far off what a small proportion of the population are like.

@Nickiquote Why does the "Beware the Green Menace" sign in the middle remind me of Nazi propaganda posters from the 30s?

I also wonder how adopting policies that focus on real world harm reduction, instead of creating a fostering environment for black markets counts as pro-drugs.

@Nickiquote@mstdn.social
I've seen variants of this trope circulating in various European countries since the 90s. -

@Nickiquote Time once again to tap the 'there's no such thing as illegal migration unless the migrant has individually been found to have breached a law and then failed to leave the country within the designated period' sign. Someone who arrives here irregularly will have their case assessed and the majority are given leave to remain, etc etc etc.
Still, if the Mail are terrified of the Greens, that must be a good sign, right? They wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

@RolloTreadway They are terrified, and it’s great.

@futurebird @Nickiquote I wonder the same thing all the time! And this paper has been doing it for *decades.* The entire time I lived in London, you couldn't get in a black cab without the driving immediately reeling off Daily Heil headlines at you, and then preening themselves on their quality cockney cab banter

@Nickiquote but imagine having such a void skull between the ears! The lightness! The peace, the limitless self-esteem, never to be interrupted by doubt... I envy them SO much.

@Nickiquote the weird thing is how views have diverged so far that people take opposite meanings from the same thing
Their article includes a video of Zack being perfectly normal and reasonable in a way that presumably gets DM readers riled up in anger
