On Firefox for iOS you can get reader view back by disabling the new “AI-summarize” option in preferences. I don’t think there’s a way to have both. Lucky for me, I don’t want AI summaries of anything ever.
I have to admit that I thought replacing the “I want to read this” button with an “I don’t want to read this” button was exceptionally insulting for a number of reasons.
But what do I know, maybe people who think you can replace restaurants with a can of ensure and a shot of everclear from a vending machine are an untapped high growth market segment.
Imagine the time we would save. Imagine the productivity.
That’s really what it’s all about, isn’t it? That’s what’s really important.

@mhoye Waterfox is Firefox with all the AI removed. I switched to it a few months ago and haven’t looked back. So good I became a monthly supporter.

@paco waterfox is a spite-fork with no security team, no meaningful test infrastructure and last time I looked no update mechanism either.
True Story: when I was at Mozilla, I had to get our legal team to send the waterfox guy a cease and desist order after he copied the Mozilla website wholesale and just replaced some graphics and “fire” with “water”. It even listed all the Mozilla executive staff as working there. I congratulated our CEO on his side gig. He didn’t think it was funny.

@mhoye@cosocial.ca they replaced "I want to read this" with "I want someone else to read this and then try to badly recount it to me two weeks later"

@mhoye Sure. But that’s the rub isn’t it? That security team is helping them cram AI into every orifice. I feel like my use of a “spite fork” (great term!) is a protest vote. What’s the right protest vote if not that? The feedback from Firefox users has been pretty clear but it’s not making any difference, is it?
