Do you know what you should do with your life?

@evan I'm retired and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

I don't really have big ambitions in life so I wanna build my own cabin and farm in the woods, live off the grid and ditch civilization cos I don't think anybody wants me around and that makes me feel like shit, so idk.
I'll never get mansion, a sports car, a big lawn, booming business, fame, whatever normal people want. Sounds boring.
I really wanna truly live alone, with my own dumb telly to watch cartoons and movies, a radio when I wanna listen to whatevs on the air. I also won't rely on the grid for power so big solar panels with big battery would be good.

I think it's not about should do but about want to do. Life is absurd. Living is absurd. And only you yourself create meaning in your life.

@evan [Not, but…] I understand "should" as requiring some kind of authority, whether biological, societal, personal.
My trouble has been with society – the job market, frankly – incoherently turning me down for no-experience-required positions apparently on the basis of another candidate having more experience than me. Something of the form "to be offered our no-experience-required post, you should be among the top N candidates to pass our aptitude test, that's it, no hidden criteria" would clearly show me my opening in that part of life.
But, personally, and sometimes it seems contrary to other authorities, I reckon I should live a meaningful life – whatever I discover this to mean to me – respecting others' right to live likewise.

@evan I’m old enough to know what I’ve done with my life and have made plans for the rest of it, but plans and life often change.

@evan By "authority" I don't mean "authoritarian", as the faq has it. For example, I went on to mention "biological" as a type of authority. There I could have, say, the bladder as an authority, so in the phraseology of the faq, "when an actor's bladder indicates it is full – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urination#Storage_phase – using the loo is good for the actor mentally and physically".

@evan Yes and 'should' is definitely the right word for me. A calling in life is all about should. An imperative. It's not something you choose, it chooses you and there's an (often frightening) sense of commitment that goes along with it. So I'm yes, but my leading edge is putting it into words.
