Was Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of the Iranian Revolution, killed in a US-Israeli bombing attack on 28 Feb 2026?

@evan Iranian sources posted something that looks a hell of a lot like a tribute to him, feels like a confirmation to me
edit: never mind just realized where i went wrong LOL
-
@evan yes but his spirit remains
(Sorry. I should've probably voted "yes" but couldn't resist playing around with the "but" option)
-
@evan tricky question

Ali Khameini was killed but he often gets confused with Khomeini (all Ayatollahs sound the same). -
@evan didn't he die of natural causes in 1989?
-
@evan no, but they're having a hard time finding him a roommate at the dorm for the conspiratorially deceased.
Elvis? No.
Any of the previous 6 popes? No.
JFK? No
Saddam Hussein? Definitely not.Maybe Michael Jackson or one of the Area 51 aliens.
Whoever it is, Khameini will be working at Cinnabon like everyone else.
-
@evan Khomeini died in 1989, but Ali Khamenei, whose name sounds similar to Westerners, was reported killed on Feb. 28.
-
@evan Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini died in 1989 and was succeeded by Ayatollah Ali Khomeini. Ali Khomeini has been confirmed by Iran as being killed during the February 28th airstrikes.
-
@evan This is some kind of trick question
-
@evan I remember the difference by thinking that the later one had a different sound at the end "eye" as opposed to the original one "ee"
-
@evan Yes, but if you want to be an *official* revisionist historian, you need a billionaire sponsor.
Iran should have done a few deepfake videos of Khamenei just to wind up Trump.
-
@evan This is some kind of trick question
@ben is it?
-
@evan cheeky, trying to catch us out
-
@evan No, but his successor Ali Hosseini Khamenei seems to have been.
