well yeah. Letting your AI escape containment and go fuck a competitor into the ground for no reason, then refuse to take responsibility for the mess you made would kinda exclude them from that, I would think

the network was airgapped. except for the proxy we included for it to download software updates
THATS NOT A FUCKING AIRGAP.

you telling me these dipshits don't know what a one-way diode is?

truly the best and brightest will be ushering in a new era of secure software. which will be used to fuck competitors in the ass.

@da_667 like, you can easily effectively create air gaps with some simple lack of routing… which would involve any of these dorks knowing anything about networking.

@da_667 an actual airgapped network is not something that many people these days have experienced. The whole concept is alien to them. “That’s a broken network”.

@da_667 any diode is two-way if the voltage is large enough

@TindrasGrove I've heard that in certain places on the "high side", that a network tap, and tcpdump can be used to simulate a data diode for incredibly cheap.

@da_667 Remember when Uber got caught cracking the networks of competitors?
-

@da_667 but if it's actually airgapped, how can I make connections in and out??? That seems very inconvenient. Need to file a risk acceptance.

@nyanbinary @da_667 just like any diode is light-emitting with enough current.

@da_667 The network was airgapped except for the huge fucking pipe labelled "AIR GOES HERE"

@da_667 nope.
And I wish it was the only elementary term missing in their basic education.

@da_667 I suppose one way to make a superintelligence is to make everything else much dumber.
I feel like I tapped the "keep Kingsley locked away from the levers of power" sign many times.

@da_667 yeeting UDP to a null address is super-useful for this

@da_667 "Uh, there's air between the wireless NIC and the router? Duh. Airgap." — these chucklefucks, probably.

Aaron Schwartz was charged for downloading documents from a school he attended. These chucklefucks outright attack a competitor, cause true financial damage, and its nothing but coo'ing and "there there" and "nothing to be done about it" for all involved.
Sam, if you're out there and you see this, I hope you fucking burn.

@da_667 wifi is technically an airgap

In today's team meeting, we had to have a discussion about a user request because their need may be legal, it skirts too close to an ethical line. It's a good reminder for my team that the world doesn't work the way we do, where ethics aren't as universally respected as they are on our team. And others need to be remoinded of good for one and good for all.
