In sewing land, did finish the green skirt the other day. Which day? Unknown, time is a soup and I was very tired.
Just slapped some herringbone linen tape on the once turned hem to finish it, then topstitched along one edge of the tape and then a distance from the skirt hem. Good enough! -

Just slapped some herringbone linen tape on the once turned hem to finish it, then topstitched along one edge of the tape and then a distance from the skirt hem. Good enough! The benefits of this approach, beyond me happening to have more of the tape than I had of the skirt fabric for a real facing, are that it's really very fast and quite durable. And while the linen starts out a little bit rough and probably shouldn't be put against the most delicate of shoes, the petticoat is going to keep it away for the most part, and the tape is stiff enough that it helps kick the hem out a little bit with very little extra weight added.
Not so pretty but fast and utilitarian.
