Just thinking about how I really quite like snakes but could never actually keep one.
Used to follow some snake and reptile education channels and always had to stare into the distance a little bit when they'd just straight up fridge the hibernating snakes for weeks or months sometimes, because they biologically needed a cold nap... -

@sinituulia to put my fear in perspective, I have a filter called "serpents of evil" for any mention of the word snake, so I don't see pictures of them. I took a gamble that being in northern Finland, your toot didn't have a photo of a snake. So clicked on the CW.

@sinituulia Note that I am perimenopausal, neurospicy, insufficiently caffeinated and tired. My chaos levels are high this morning, and I could definitely go for 3 meters of leave-me-the-fuck-alone right now.

@quixoticgeek There's maybe two common sorts here, one the common viper and one non-venomous, and neither of them I've ever personally seen in the wild! This isn't Australia!
I'd probably also properly tag them if I did ever manage a photo

@sinituulia I already have a 171 cm long snake plushie, a real looking magical one with no downsides? count me in!
assuming NotOurCat would not object, of course, but if they don't need to eat rodents I assume he wouldn't consider them a competitor?
I may ask them for help while debugging python programs, like I do sometimes with the plushie

@sinituulia I absolutely adore the nope-ropes and danger-noodles that live around and under my house.
While having the companion be magically low-maintenance and not an invasive risk definitely makes it a more accessible option… I’ve never been keen on keeping them as pets myself? I guess I just prefer seeing them interact with a more natural environment more.
Maybe if I also had a magical pocket dimension self-maintaining greenhouse? -
