@hpod16 additionally, it would be important for the EU institutions to treat the Fediverse as a communication channel on a par with X and Meta’s various services.
Seeing the European institutions depend on the mercy of non-European companies for communication with their own citizens is frankly disturbing.

@hpod16 just yesterday, we saw Meta ban ads for a Spanish theater because they related to feminism .
How will the EU institutions talk to citizens about equality and diversity, if they rely on channels that block these topics for nakedly political reasons?

Die Audience kann hier und da so unterschiedlich sein. Und wie wuerde es dann mit Community Management aussehen? Ich finde es ja auch wichtig dass man wenn moeglich auf kommentare antwortet -

Und was das Community Management angeht ist das eigentlich auch kein Problem. Du kannst sowohl auf Kommentare von Followern Antworten deren Account nicht gebridged ist als auch auf auf die deren Accounts gebridged sind.

@hpod16 a mere presence in the fediverse should be fairly easy if they already post in any of the adtech platforms (the POSSE principle).
But the fediverse is not just another channel to push news updates. The opportunity (and challenge) is to actually engage with people, and even better, actively shape the ecosystem. Open and democratic social networks that reach large numbers of people don't exist yet, we need to create them.

@hpod16 But I would like them to update us on policy issues and highlight interesting public consultations. And less feel good information about measures they never take action on or advertisement for unpopular decisions they made as they do now.

But having VDL, Costa and Kallas make their statemens #fedifirst would be a fantastic win for democratic public discourse.
So that you could be an enlightened and informed citizen of 
Europe without having to register with and be tracked by Messrs Zuckerberg, Page, Brin and Musk. @HennaVirkkunen has set an excellent example for them to follow.

Thats a good example of what I meant by "shaping" the ecosystem. Creating spaces for informed debate was never the objective of adtech
, so these platforms are not designed to support it. Mastodon suffers somewhat from emulating architecturally the old Twitter, but the beauty of an open source activitypub / fediverse is that it will evolve if people put their minds and energies in the right direction

So we would know, that there is a line into politics for the future, to improve EU with input from grassroots.
