With the days shortening and cooling in the northern hemisphere the #wildlife is busy preparing for the coming lean months of scarce food

What I remember first and foremost, is don't drive in the dark in October/November (rutting season for White Tail deer), lest ye hit those horny fuckers!
I've been hit by two at dusk+ right here, in early November. So there's good reason why locals put those tubular steel bumpers on the front of their pickups: they do save money in the long run.

@chessert they are a menace at dusk and dawn
a month back i crested a hill, spotted them immediately to the side but already too late for their annoying habit of going into the road in panic. luckily i wasn't going that fast and a trick of timing meant just as they leapt up my car hood scooped them up and onto their side. they slid right off and onward, unharmed and unfazed, and they bounded away

@benroyce Wheatabucks. Very rare and not often photographed. Well done!

Had tubular bumpers on Toyota 4x in SF. When parked on hill in front of my house, very entertaining to see tourists failing to parallel park and trashing their cars on those bumpers. They'd damage all kinds of parts, shatter their lights, panic, and flee. Barely a scratch on my absurd truck. Wouldn't have been so hilarious if they hadn't done the wrong thing like that. Not once in a decade did anyone leave a note even.

@benroyce Is this a JoJo reference?
(spoilers: Yes. It is. See Weather Report. And yes, it turned animals into snails also.)
