@davidrevoy I'm a writer. The same thing happens to me but with words.
I'm at a point where I almost don't want to write anymore, let alone publish it. It has always been my passion and seriously helped me work through trauma. And now it's all but gone, at least the creative work. Not once in my life have I used generative AI and it still has a massive impact on me.Marcus Olang' wrote a good piece about it.

Bloody hell, what a nightmare.
Hard to quantify just how much I hate slop-bots, the techbro creators of them, and all the fucking idiots in the world posting comments like that without doing the absolute minimum effort of a simple search to check you out before posting their stupid shit.

@davidrevoy Your art rules and looks way better than any awful facsimile AI purports to create. Keep up the good work. You deserve so much better than this!

@davidrevoy You are 100% my favorite comic artist! I know it's hard, but don't let them discourage you, your base is out here.
P.S. To everyone else, this is a great time to throw some support David's way - see his profile for donation options.

I think it’s funny as hell people can’t tell the difference.
There was a great exchange in the original aliens movie between Vazquez and one of the guys. She’s doing chin ups and the guy says “have you ever been mistaken for a man?
She replies, “ no. Have you?”

EDIT: AAAAHHHAHA he did it!

@davidrevoy The highest irony is, these are those Facebook and Instagram responses

@davidrevoy I remember I found one in the wild, and at least the accuser was apologetic when you shown your WIP.
AI-accusation now is just another way of dehumanising artists, but also with distinctive cluster of targets: the non-Westerners, the non-whites, the non native English speakers who are already dehumanised by the dominant culture are now having yet another low effort weapon against them, and somehow the burden of proof is on the accused. See; Ben Moran.

@davidrevoy @gabrielesvelto As a fellow artist who stopped practicing professionally a few years before this AI shitstorm hit the field, I'm so sorry. This is horrifying.
Artists have always been incredibly undervalued by modern society, but this is a new low. I weep for all my artist friends, and for all the damage this exploitative technology is doing to our world.
@Em0nM4stodon @davidrevoy @gabrielesvelto Thirded. Some years ago, I started pulling down all my artwork bc I was not comfortable with AI. I decided that I wouldnt share anything further if I could not change my comfort level and framing
.....and in the years since I have grown even less comfortable. I have made peace with the fact that my art is (and has always been) for me. Thats all that matters and I dont have to ever do anything I am uncomfortable with

@davidrevoy this is yet another way how genai erodes trust in one-another and destroys communities
genai just shouldn't be used, ever. not for visual art, not for music, not for code, not for writing; nothing -

Aw that commend about text feels a little too sharp as it's likely the text bubbles and text layout are inkscape.

@davidrevoy I’m sorry you’re getting these comments. Your art is so full of heart I’ve never really thought to compare it to aigen. I don’t see how people see any similarities to be honest.
I love your art, the way you draw fantasy worlds and characters is a big inspiration to me. And it’s so cool to see that you do it all with Krita, it makes me want to give it a go and finally make that switch.
@Mudlark Do iiit! 8D It's free! You have nothing to lose! And it's so much fun.

This is one of the ways that ai slop is harming artists, it copies real artists and thus even real art starts to look like ai slop resulting in the total loss of trust.
It's why we have to be very opposed to it and make sure to let people know when no ai slop is used. Welcome to the future that techbros want.

@davidrevoy The dark truth is that the vast majority (me included) can’t pick out AI very well. It has to be quite obvious. And imho the worst part is that all of this is big corpo. The models especially.
If you could run AI locally on your machine and train it with your own material, I think it would be up to you if you wanted to/what you’d do with it.
But they took that choice away.
