Theory 1: "The meow joke in the film Super Troopers, where VT state troopers try to slip the word meow into a traffic stop as many times without the driver noticing.
Theory 2: "The village Atmautluak in western Alaska, pronounced by pilots as At-Mao and then At-Meow. Eventually when one called it ‘Meow’ on the radio, everyone else on frequency was obligated to meow with the most obnoxious meows possible."

There may or may not have been an incident involving me giving a university lecture, messing up some impromptu calculations on the blackboard, and uttering a confused "meow..." in front of a hall full of students as I tried to figure it out.
This may or may not havr led to a woman being invited by a common friend to my next lecture as "...and he also says "meow" during his lectures".
That woman may or may not have later become my partner of twenty years and going. -
