But every bottle I now drink from either stabs me in the face or drips some of the contents down my shirt. So yeah this was a pure lose-lose situation for me.

I also found it annoying initially, but it really isn't hard to learn how to use it without spillage etc. People are lazy/irrationally conservative/both. Remembering those t-shirts with a seat belt printed on. Some folks would rather die than change.

The cap doesn't stay open even if you shout at it, and that's not funnyOnly because you said it does not stay open: @Teratogenese @remaster @Elektrotier Unscrew the cap and push to the left or right and exert downward pressure, until the cap is below the hinge, until it clicks.
