@inthehands @Soulshine We're still in the consilidating power phase, and the more pushback this gets the more the authoritarian coalition in power is fragmenting and infighting - they have gained ground in some areas, but lost it in others, and will lose more as the coalition fragments and as the dems and courts are forced to act more firmly against them.

And honestly, it’s looking •less• successful now than it did 6 months ago.Miller moved too fast. Possible he thought the whole move fast and break things tech approach would work. Maybe it was more of realization that midterms results did not look promising. And I can't discount that it is just arrogance that led him to believe he could do it in just a year.

Critical mass can be built to once again make it tenable. Look at history, people have lived under lords at many different times and places. That doesn’t mean that once it’s so, it cannot be undone.

I honestly do not think he has any idea what he is saying anymore. And if the NRA and libertarians turn on him, they will make the upcoming GOP primaries all about the Second Amendment.

Thank you for giving us hope right from the eye of the storm (Minneapolis these days). Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, and here in Berlin, as elsewhere, the phrase "never again" is being emphasised once more. You have lived through it in recent weeks, and if there is anything good to be found in the situation, it is perhaps that we all finally understand how things could have come to this back then. -

I strongly suspect that Miller (and many others adjacent) truly believed that the vast majority of white people secretly hate immigrants and brown people and want them all gone but are just too afraid to do anything — and they thus assumed that ICE’s violence have widespread support. The massive degree to which white people in Minneapolis-St. Paul do •not• feel this way caught them completely off guard. They’ve spent an embarrassingly long time clinging to the idea that it’s just a few people opposing them. I hope that seeing 50,000 people marching at -10°F registered as a punch in their shriveled, horrible gut. -
