I always believed that Wikimedians would side with our union, but when it really happened it was more emotionally impactful than I had expected. I don’t know if any other collection of workers will ever have the leverage that y’all are lending us, and I hope we can wield it responsibly to repay your trust.

While this was a success for the organizers and employees, the Wikimedia Foundation made the process more challenging than it needed to be, and operated with a disappointing lack of transparency. They have much to do to repair trust, in my view.

@closeted_unionist @molly0xfff I think unions are like seatbelts. You don't wait for the wreck to buckle up. It's just a precaution that doesn't make sense not to take.

@molly0xfff I wonder how many trustees the workers get to elect to the board? Whatever the percentage currently is, it should probably be increased until the antiworker culture of the organisation is rectified.

@molly0xfff even this is extraordinarily diplomatic phrasing. If the WMF is at all interested in restoring trust, or has even taken a first baby step to do so, it's flown under my radar. My attitude, at this point, is to pin them against the wall, and that would not have been my attitude if they hadn't adopted a stereotypically evil playbook for fighting unionization.
