      @jwcph
      I'm still learning, after more than a dozen different classes, but I seem to recall that machines should always be threaded when the thread take-up (?) is in the fully upright position. Apparently, other positions are likely to lead to tangles.

        @jwcph As someone who has also tried to get an old machine running, I think you have two options:

        1. Spend hours searching YouTube and the web for a threading guide for your exact model
        2. Spend hours in trial and error

        Anyway, that's my person two options.

          @EllenInEdmonton I learned that, too - the biggest challenge is around the tension knob, and then also a bit concerning the under-thread tension...

            @guyjantic Well, door no. 1 is easy - this machine is too old and/or unpopular for anything to turn up in search 😝 I was actually doing pretty well with the second option, right up until the needle broke a few minutes ago, leading me to call it a night with it & pick it back up tomorrow...

                @jwcph Threading is not so different between the machines as you might think.

                > machines should always be threaded when the thread take-up (?) is in the fully upright position

                This is correct because the plates for the tension are open then.

                There is usually a holder for the spool at the right end of the top of the machine. You should

                  @jwcph

                  use it and spare the leash at the back but use the one on top front.

                  I attached some hints in your picture to give you an idea.

                  Please check if the needle is in correct position. In case that its upper end has a flat region this belongs to the back. For round needles please ask for advice.

                  Finally adjust the round knob for tension so that upper and lower thread when sewed meet in the middle of the cloth.

                    @carla Thank you so much! πŸ™ The only one I figured out through trial & error was the way the thread goes around the tension knob - I didn't even think to check the needle position, even though I've had a problem before on the other machine which was caused by that... 😝
