If you've watched a lot of American pop culture, this is no surprise. "Be my friend and/or I will punch you in the face" is by no means a dynamic only applied to villains.

Some of us keep trying to get this across: Americans, you have some deep-seated cultural issues, of which your, ahem, political situation is a symptom & an extremely predictable one.
