To be fair, though, this isn't an AI problem - it's a digital business model & regulation problem. Even now, almost 4 decades into the digital age, people fail to realize that, on some level, digital work exists at the mercy of the vendor.
It started with file formats & protocols & because we didn't grasp & react to the inherent problems, the tech sector kept developing their business models around lock-in & control over your work & now, here we are.
