@Em0nM4stodon plus constantly suffering the mental ware off, I have been trying to keep presence in #X to try to enter the bubble of "main stream" users and attract them to the decentralized side, but it is extremely exhausting, constant mental pain and fatigue of so much bullshit

@Em0nM4stodon By being easily reachable on a platform, you are actively incentivising people who wish to reach you to be on that platform.

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange "But all of my friends are still on Xitter/Facebook!"
Then do you really want to be associated with those friends? -

@david_chisnall @Em0nM4stodon Agreed, the Network Effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect) is a strong force and difficult to disrupt. I left FB and twitter when it became clear their values were not aligned with mine, but I still have no other people in the #Fediverse that I know IRL. Persuading them to move is a hard problem…

@catsalad ditto. I closed all my other social accounts and requested deletion of my data long ago. Nowadays I even block all their domains so I don't accidentally give them any traffic.
My life is better for it, and I haven't missed them for even a moment.

@catsalad same here!

@Em0nM4stodon -
@zotheca @mousey thank you for saying this! The screenshots and lack of alt text were driving me crazy (I don’t follow his account but I would see the posts on Explore pretty much every day). I ended up blocking him.
Another « offense » if you wanna call it that is the fact the account (probably run by an intern) NEVER interacts with anyone, ouf

Never thought of that, but you’re absolutely right

I think virtual social networks simply have a responsibility. Anyone who just posts their screenshots and ignores people with visual impairments is making the whole thing pretty pointless.
Nowadays, there are plenty of tools you can use to write good alt text. I always run photos through Gemini.
I don't think Bluesky posts are bad at all if you understand Fedi as a platform for exchange. But please, not in this way. -
@Em0nM4stodon (Masto, that is. And the ppl, oc!)

@alice @catsalad @Em0nM4stodon I've gone a similar route where I can. Running your own DNS so you can't even accidentally send traffic is a big one.
I'm slowly getting some of my business clients to buy into this approach. If employees want that stuff, they have personal devices for it.
A simple first step for businesses is setting upstream DNS to https://www.joindns4.eu/ to start them on their journey
