@JustinDerrick There are absolutely datacenters this secure. The ones I've been in personally have been for financial trading. Those followed the security procedures you would expect. Lots of armed guards, entirely inaccessible by the street, two security checks for incoming packages and deliveries on freight elevators.
LLM datacenters are not that. They are the cheap design of datacenter, where it's basically as secure as a warehouse.
@matdevdug @JustinDerrick Switch in Vegas (which houses both DoD and root servers for both DNS and CA) equips their security teams with MP-5s. A coworker almost got merc'd there one day because he ran after his cab to get a forgotten bag. They're not all this slipshod and you do not want to guess wrong about which kind you picked. Just saying.

@matdevdug Do you even have to go inside? I've been looking at some of the emf based anti-drone technology being used on the modern battlefield and have to believe it would impart the same sort of destuction on the circuits inside a data center. Assuming it could be built 'at home'. I imagine its only a matter of time until we see someone try it.

@matdevdug I've been inside several FISMA High data centers, supposedly ultra super secure facilities. Basically the only thing they add to your description is more doors that require keycard access, and it least one that scans your eyeballs.
The last one I was in required keycard access to get into the snack/break room for some reason. Because you needed proper security clearance to grab a Snickers and a Gatoraid I guess.
That place did have good snacks though.

@matdevdug Last time I was in a datacentre, and a fairly critical one in London at that, they accepted my colleagues gym membership card as ID and didn’t even ask for mine.

@matdevdug As someone who has snuck into a Google data center they've never been to before with just a photocopy of a badge, I concur with this assessment.
