@FediTips is there any kind of automated way to switch instances, and if not (which I suspect there isn't!) Will it ever likely be possible?
Like ideally it would be a button or a drop down menu or search bar or something

Do you mean like the current transfer process but simplified? ( https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/ )
I think the developers do want to make it easier, but they also have a lot of other things to do too, and very little money. So, I don't know where it is in the priority list.
