Both say everything I've always thought about the advantages of NOT wanting to be an elite athlete. -

@masukomi Thanks for sharing. I wonder why they chose to leave some questions/responses out from the article, e.g., the ginger tea bit of the phone interview?
@twynn i couldn’t begin to guess as i have no idea what was cut. Is the audio available somewhere? Is that how you know about more questions?

@masukomi Just looking at that smile I knew the interview was gonna be good and it was. It sounds like she lost her filter during the swim.
@Owlor i suspect she’s just an autistic woman who never had one to begin with.

@HaraldKi thanks Harald. I was assuming it was over near the country of Georgia but also confused because couldn’t figure out why it would have a straight. To be honest i thought the country of Georgia was landlocked until just now.

@DJGummikuh i mean, us autistic folks have invented our figured out most of the cool shit so…
Don’t know for a fact that she’s autistic, but dang did she leave a lot of clues.

@masukomi to be fair, I don't really think that categorization makes sense here, my admiration goes deeper than that. For whatever reason, she pushes the limits of what not only herself, but humanity as a whole can achieve and is approaching this with an almost child-like fascination despite the tremendous ammount of effort involved. Now whether she did that because she's autistic doesn't matter any more than the fact she's a woman in my opinion, I just admire her approach to life.

@DJGummikuh that perfectly describes the autistic approach to our special interests. Some of us just happen to have special interests with broader applications. Einstein being the most famous example, but there’s also no way I’m buying that Charles Babbage and many other people who drove humanity with discoveries or inventions that required years of hyperfocus on
no one else cared about weren’t also autistic. -

“I ate pretty much nothing but ice cream every day for months and months and months,” she said. “I highly recommend everyone try that at least once in their life.”
OMFG, this woman, loving this — Violet
