This is, quite possibly, the most entertaining interview i have ever encountered. You simply *must * read it. It keeps getting better with every question.

@masukomi A lot of funny bits, some more profound like the breaking of the record 'It's hard to feel kind of an ego about it because I feel like no two swims in the ocean are ever the same, because you never know what current someone gets stuck in or whatever. So it's kind of hard to feel a superiority complex in a sense when it's not equal.'

@masukomi this has strong vibes of @JohnFinnemore 's classic "World's Fastest Tricyclist" sketch. Which I wish I had a link to.

@masukomi Thanks for sharing. I wonder why they chose to leave some questions/responses out from the article, e.g., the ginger tea bit of the phone interview?

@masukomi to be fair, I don't really think that categorization makes sense here, my admiration goes deeper than that. For whatever reason, she pushes the limits of what not only herself, but humanity as a whole can achieve and is approaching this with an almost child-like fascination despite the tremendous ammount of effort involved. Now whether she did that because she's autistic doesn't matter any more than the fact she's a woman in my opinion, I just admire her approach to life.

@DJGummikuh that perfectly describes the autistic approach to our special interests. Some of us just happen to have special interests with broader applications. Einstein being the most famous example, but there’s also no way I’m buying that Charles Babbage and many other people who drove humanity with discoveries or inventions that required years of hyperfocus on 💩 no one else cared about weren’t also autistic.
