A local sexual health clinic uses a free Squarespace / Acuity ad-supported online form. To take details from users booking Rapid HIV testing.

The users submit details such as sexual health, lifestyle, criminal history, HIV status, sexual identity etc.

So far i've been told that i should be wearing a tin foil helmut. The DPC has not replied to my complaint.

Can i get a sanity check pls? Am i the crazy one? Is this outrageous or not?

journalists have taken a pass and accused me of scaremongering...

According to the Squarespace Privacy Policy, they sell user submitted data to LinkedIn, Instagram, Meta, Google Ads and many more ad partners...

Do you really want your boss knowing your HIV status? Or your health insurance company knowing your sexual history?

Would be a pretty small leap to link an advertising ID to a referrer URL. i mean that's typically how advertising on the internet works.

Then, all of a sudden, they're seeing adverts for HIV treatment on other websites, and let's not even mention if it isn't their computer...

the problem, as with so many violations of this nature, is that it's not news, everybody kind of already knows the situation is completely terrible. it doesn't drive clicks.
