Manly Man books for Manly Dads.

@eleanorrees Unclean!
This reminds me of the twenty minutes I once wasted in Waterstones in the run-up to Xmas, moving books between the "gifts for him" and "gifts for her" displays
-
@Nickiquote to be fair, I'm a dad and I thought Robert Harris' Pompeii was excellent. Most of the rest looks...meh
@glaringanomaly Haha, I’ve actually read that one too. It was a long while ago though. It came out 23 years ago.
-
@Nickiquote The Loneliness Of The Sa(la)d Banana Man. Sliced?
@JackTheCat Of course, I’m not an animal.
-
@Nickiquote That only leaves James Patterson.
@MiaMarkTwo James Patterson doesn’t appear on this stand but I did note that there were loads of James Patterson (branded) books in the normal books section.
-
@Nickiquote stick a few copies of ‘Strong Female Character’ in there.
-
@JackTheCat Of course, I’m not an animal.
"I'm not a freak, you know!"

Manly Man books for Manly Dads.
I find it mildly reassuring that with space for 20 titles, they only managed to find 18 so had to show two of them twice

Yeah I haven't read that, but I would. And the Bernard Cornwell too, probably. Both are good writers

@Nickiquote Forgot about this. Seems apt.

@stevegis_ssg @Nickiquote @eleanorrees
The reason I'd gone in there in the first place was because I had some time to kill

Every Ken Follett strong feeeemale character during every phase of British history:
- Whip-smart and also lithe as a whip.
- Sense of yuuumour and also very serious.
- Fiercely independent and also totally devoted to A Guy.
- Extremely skillful and resourceful does everything better than the men around her can do but also, and this is important, most fetchingly.
- Very ethical and also cunning and brave but also frightened and admirable but with some vulnerabilities and strong but with a softer side.
- Has been through a lot which has just made her stronger not bitter and definitely not a man-hater in fact really rather horny and up for it right now as a matter of fact.

The only thing that changes is the hair colour. -

@regordane @Nickiquote @eleanorrees How was that wasted?
I myself have spent time in Barnes and Noble (1) putting bookmarks for the GI Rights Hotline into books by Tom Clancy, WEB Griffin, et al.., and (2) reshelving Rush Limbaugh and his ilk into fantasy fiction.

Manly Man books for Manly Dads.
@Nickiquote funny how the manly men of the UK will read all the books about the evils of the Nazis, then go and get all aquiver about Farage and his fellowship of fascist fuckwits.
You'd think reading books might help.
