My use of AI is higher than I want. Because some companies (especially the ones I am required to use for work) won’t stop throwing it at me. „Look what we did for you“, „isn’t this useful?“, „hey we ran your data through this and can help you make it better“

@overholt AI is a technology like any other, it can be useful, but it also makes it easy to make money with low effort. Until that is not true it will continue just pumping out slop.
Some good uses of AI are, for example, suicide prevention at metro stations. AI systems trained to recognise people wanting to jump.

Some from lack of demand due to switching to other languages as you allude to, some because it was perceived they weren’t needed anymore, certainly not compared to cheaper young whippersnappers. COBOL still runs a lot of the world, though.
