@overholt That statement is true and what I don't like is that largely the ppl that would teach AI about democracy and equality and moral values that promote democracy and equality have taken themselves out of the AI equation and we are being left with a more fascist, totolitarian, and dystopian AI. Tech, like elections needs people willing to deal solutions and democractic values into tech instead of ppl that want to just throw the baby out with the bath water and fearmonger about the future.
@Scrimshaw9 @overholt You can't 'teach' the AI about democracy. It's not the 'AI' that needs to learn about that. It's the guys running the systems. And the only reason they're getting money is the promise of destroying democracy. Take that away, it all collapses.

My use of AI is higher than I want. Because some companies (especially the ones I am required to use for work) won’t stop throwing it at me. „Look what we did for you“, „isn’t this useful?“, „hey we ran your data through this and can help you make it better“

@overholt I realise I am in a privileged position where I don't have to interact with AI chatbots or LLMs at all and I'd like to keep it that way. Others aren't so lucky and I really feel for their predicament. It sucks.

I sure was glad of the fact that I learned the Rust programming language with the able assistance of my friends here, real encouragement I got from them.

I use AI pretty much every day of my life as a code assist. If any of these AI Chicken Littles want to work with me on Rust, they're welcome.

@overholt AI is a technology like any other, it can be useful, but it also makes it easy to make money with low effort. Until that is not true it will continue just pumping out slop.
Some good uses of AI are, for example, suicide prevention at metro stations. AI systems trained to recognise people wanting to jump. -

@Scrimshaw9 @maccruiskeen @overholt you can't teach these computer programs anything because they can't "learn". They can't place emotional value on anything. These are algorithmic word guessing, weighted probability machines. Just math(s). It's nothing more than a very expensive parlor trick.
