I signed up for the Paris Marathon on April 12, 2026.

Today is election day in Denmark, and I started it with an easy morning run.
Spring is coming, and I look forward to brighter days.
Have a good one.

A morning tempo run.
As Copenhagen Marathon is now in the near future (#CPH42 in 44 days), I train keeping on even when it is hard. So today, I consistently pushed for a higher effort than what I would usually do and what felt most comfortable. No surprise: this was challenging. But it was also managable, and the fundamentals prove to be strong.

Thanks!
Truth be told, I struggle a little with motivation and with fitting running into everything else these days. But the moment I have the shoes on and hit the street, I know I am exactly where I should be, and I feel strong and in control.
This weekend, my long run will be 30 km (for the first time in around six months, I think). I am curious to see how that will play out.

It's been a few weeks here with a lot of things going on outside our normal daily lives, with the election and world news taking some of our attention, I understand why it's a struggle.
Happy to hear you're in the right mood when the shoes are on!

Things are not all bad - a major point of distraction is that I do some incredibly interesting data collection and analysis at work right now, and in the mornings I am often tempted to just have a quick look (narrator voice: it is never just a quick look) instead of getting out the door.
So the struggle is real. But I should not make it sound worse than it is.

Oh!!! I know about data analysis and the "just a quick peek, some very rudimentary analysis, just checking if everything looking alright" vibe! That's definitely a positive challenge to have!

Pace: 5'17"Out of the warm bed at 5:15, oatmeal, start #running in the cold, windy, and rainy weather, turn right on a whim, get lost in the woods, find the way back, get attacked by a dog, realize it's on a leash (so no danger), gel every 5k, spend 3hrs with a favorite band to prepare for concert tonight, witness the woods wake up, find the flow, overcome the struggle, runner's high.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable run.

What a start to the day!
Sounds like you're really killing it out on the track!
I hope you're still full of energy for the concert this evening!

Harder, better, faster, stronger. Today, I focused on effort, training to keep it up even when I am exhausted.

I kept it around 7 for most of the run but cranked it up to 8 on the homestretch. I could probably have run faster throughout, but I had dressed a bit too lightly and was a little cold, and there is no point in risking injury; we are human, after all.

Absolutely no risk should be allowed at all!
This is what I'm hearing a lot on the running podcast I listen to. It can be difficult if course, but being injury free is one of the best ways to run faster.
So many overexert themselves and end up with too much downtime afterwards.

Exactly. If you cannot run, you do not get better at running.
Which running podcast(s) do you listen to? I'm very happy with " @coachbennett's Podcast".

Ah yes! I should get that one on also.
I'm mostly doing the danish Sidelinjen. It's actually not so much about running for everyone broadly.
It's more about the two hosts and people who run, and what's going on in the running world.
"Mental atlet" (old episodes) are more specifically about running.
And then the English "The running channel" where they also have training videos on youtube etc.

Great! If you load the one before as well ("8 ways to get better"), you're in for an excellent introduction to his philisophy of running - which is by and large also mine.

I had planned to do a nice and easy long-ish run through the centre of Aarhus and by the harbor to see the sun rise.
Instead, I had to chase down a super-charger for my car and ended up doing a forced short run in an utterly mundane suburb before rushing back to my hotel in time for breakfast.
Anyway, a run is a run and there were some challenging hills on this one. It was enjoyable enough. All is good.
