I signed up for the Paris Marathon on April 12, 2026.

"An accidental marathon" - I like that phrasing.
Around 25k I did the math and realized where this could go, and at 32k I committed to it.
It's a new PR, no doubt! According to my app, I did it in 4:01:54, which is around a 12 min. improvement.
It has been a wild week in terms of running, indeed. I do, however, see the irony that neither of the PRs (both of which met my goals of the year) are on record with official time-keeping. So I have to do it again later.

And thank you!!
New marathon and new 10k PB in the same week.
And an anniversary on top of that 🤩
I'd say "I can't get my hands down" but I've just returned from a hard training session so...

-
So ... this happened.
I ran the full marathon distance unplanned.
I set out to do 30k, took some wrong turns (i.e., more distance), had to swing by the bakery, and then I was at 40k before I got home, so I dropped off the cakes and YOLOed an extra 2.2k to get *there*.
I felt good throughout, did not really hit the wall. Doing this was crazy and brutal and great. This brings me joy.
Distance: 42.21k
Pace: 5'45"Havdrup Familieløb (10k) in 7 days.
Just chillin' after the accidental marathon on Saturday. Or ... that was the plan.
So while kiddo did her atlethics training, I did some easy laps on the tracks. But of course I could not contain myself, and so I threw in 4x200m hard sprints (a 9 effort out of 10) toward the end. It made it hard, but also very rewarding. And it mixed things up.
Distance: 7.61k
Pace: 5'23"Havdrup Familieløb (10k) in 5 days.

That's a great way to do it, I also did a short sprint in my easy run today, the weather was inviting to so it

New 10k PR!!
Tonight, I ran the DHL relays (a gigantic #running event for companies) and did two 5k laps. I pushed hard, stayed in control, executed my strategy, had a blast.
A goal for 2026 is to race 10k below 49 minutes. My official time today: 49:02. I'm proud of the result, which shaved 0:32 off my old PR, but being three seconds off my goal is slightly annoying.
Well, ever onwards.

Congratulations Aske! That's great! Now you have an official time at least (although I'm not sure the track is measured by DAC?!?
)I hope you impressed the colleagues! 🤪

Because of the DHL relays in Copenhagen (see previous post), I left the car at work yesterday. Which meant I did a long run this morning to get to work.
It was challenging. My legs were still tired, and with a lot of work stuff on my mind it was hard to find the flow mentally. So I kept it easy, kept on going - and in the end it was a good run.

@askekammer
You're definitely getting in the mileage!Pretty hardcore to clock in a half marathon 12 hours after a 10k personal best

After some days of recovery, I did run this morning.
It was just a run. No more, no less.
But the sunrise was beautiful.

Excuse my French, but: damn, this was tough.
Training stamina and recovery-on-the-go, I did a morning fartlek: 5min warm-up, then 15min switching between 30sec hard ("my muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid") and 30sec easy #running. And then I ran some more to get home.
This was hard but rewarding. It worked out very well. The fundamentals are strong. I am happy I did this.

I did s long morning run, and it was quite a difficult one.
I somehow never really got into the right frame of mind (but I slept poorly, so that is probably why). Worse, the hell [edit: heel] of my right foot starting hurting, which meant I could not run as I wanted to; on the contrary, I tried to protect it and run much more slowly the usually, yet now my entire right leg feels sore.
Still, a beautiful morning.

I'm in Brno for the biannual ECREA conference. A new city to explore through #running.
The Villa Tugendhat garden was closed, but I ran through parks, residential areas, and a part of the city center. Lots of hills, lots of rain. It was a good run.

Phew, I must admit I've been on the lookout for new running updates from you regarding your status.
Seems like you've resisted the urge to run and kept your feet up long enough to recover and keep going for the upcoming races.Great to hear!
And yes Brno is a great city!Impacted as we are from our respective fields of interest, I'd go and visit the Mendel museum of course
https://mendelmuseum.muni.cz/enBut you didn't ask for tourist information

Still careful with my foot, I ran easy this morning; made sure to always be close to bus stops, train stations, or home; was prepared to abandon the run if it felt wrong.
But all was good. I was tired (and forgot to bring water), yet ended up doing my weekly HM distance without problems. Very happy with it. Above all, this was a mental victory.

Happy to hear that Aske!
Sometimes it really isn't anything serious
, but good to take care and make sure!Do you have any plans for WRRC with respect to your pacing strategy?
With Malmö marathon coming up, I'm guessing you're just taking it relatively easy?

Intervals!
10 x 100 seconds (at 10k, 5k, or mile pace) + some warm-up and cool-down.
This was fun. And hard. But above all fun

One last run before the 21.1k World Championship on Sunday. Of course this would be an easy run, just shaking-out and keeping the legs active without doing anything hard. Don't push it now, right.
Or you could do a 1k warm-up, 3k tempo run, 1k cool-down.
I know it probably was not smart to do the latter. But I felt good and I wanted to do something fast and fun. I had a blast.
No regrets.
Now, recovery.

I know that feeling of wanting to test the legs when they really feel extremely fresh

What was the tempo for the 3k effort? 4:15/km?

For the 3k tempo run, I think my average pace was around 4'53" - and then 4'42" for the 1k cool-down...
I ran according to perceived effort. But maybe I need to train holding back.

@askekammer @folfdk Bwahaha, “Right, Aske. Now it is time to speed up for the cooldown!”
