I signed up for the Paris Marathon on April 12, 2026.

I did s long morning run, and it was quite a difficult one.
I somehow never really got into the right frame of mind (but I slept poorly, so that is probably why). Worse, the hell [edit: heel] of my right foot starting hurting, which meant I could not run as I wanted to; on the contrary, I tried to protect it and run much more slowly the usually, yet now my entire right leg feels sore.
Still, a beautiful morning.
Distance: 22.11k

I'm in Brno for the biannual ECREA conference. A new city to explore through #running.
The Villa Tugendhat garden was closed, but I ran through parks, residential areas, and a part of the city center. Lots of hills, lots of rain. It was a good run.

Phew, I must admit I've been on the lookout for new running updates from you regarding your status.
Seems like you've resisted the urge to run and kept your feet up long enough to recover and keep going for the upcoming races.Great to hear!
And yes Brno is a great city!Impacted as we are from our respective fields of interest, I'd go and visit the Mendel museum of course
https://mendelmuseum.muni.cz/enBut you didn't ask for tourist information

Still careful with my foot, I ran easy this morning; made sure to always be close to bus stops, train stations, or home; was prepared to abandon the run if it felt wrong.
But all was good. I was tired (and forgot to bring water), yet ended up doing my weekly HM distance without problems. Very happy with it. Above all, this was a mental victory.

Happy to hear that Aske!
Sometimes it really isn't anything serious
, but good to take care and make sure!Do you have any plans for WRRC with respect to your pacing strategy?
With Malmö marathon coming up, I'm guessing you're just taking it relatively easy?

Intervals!
10 x 100 seconds (at 10k, 5k, or mile pace) + some warm-up and cool-down.
This was fun. And hard. But above all fun

One last run before the 21.1k World Championship on Sunday. Of course this would be an easy run, just shaking-out and keeping the legs active without doing anything hard. Don't push it now, right.
Or you could do a 1k warm-up, 3k tempo run, 1k cool-down.
I know it probably was not smart to do the latter. But I felt good and I wanted to do something fast and fun. I had a blast.
No regrets.
Now, recovery.

I know that feeling of wanting to test the legs when they really feel extremely fresh

What was the tempo for the 3k effort? 4:15/km?

For the 3k tempo run, I think my average pace was around 4'53" - and then 4'42" for the 1k cool-down...
I ran according to perceived effort. But maybe I need to train holding back.

@askekammer @folfdk Bwahaha, “Right, Aske. Now it is time to speed up for the cooldown!”

Pace: 4'58"Today, I participate in the 21.1k World Atlethics Road Running Championship in Copenhagen #WRRC
For all practical purposes, it’s the Copenhagen Half-Marathon, but the championship adds some extra spice to the experience and, I expect, the atmosphere. And racing in Copenhagen is always a hoot already, so this’ll be a day to remember.
I’m bib 15466.
You can follow the race on https://live.wrrc26.dk/ and on television (DR and Eurosport).
Let’s go!

I feel very good, and I’m ready for racing #WRRC.
It *is* a big deal - but also just another run. I race Malmö Marathon in 2 weeks, and this is also training for that. And I race Sydkystløbet (21.1k) in 3 weeks and will chase a PR there. So today is both a goal in itself and a step on the way.
That said, I want to achieve four things:
1. Focus on joyful running
2. Stay in control of my race
3. Finish in less than 1:55:00
4. Become World Champion2/x

I have a plan for racing #WRRC today.
I don't know what my finish time will be (that depends a lot on the overall flow of the *many* participants and on the weather). But I know the strategy for my own race. The question is how my execution will be...
I think a lot will ultimately be decided on the course. Lots of training prepares you for improvising.

If you follow the #WRRC on this platform, you'll be pleased to know that a few other #RunnersOfMastodon race in Copenhagen today:
- @ethanweed is bib 38128
- @folfdk is bib 35482
(and probably some more; let me know)My good colleague Chris Peters also races (bib 7205).
If you're in the crowd in Copenhagen and see them out there, cheer them on. It matters much more than you think.

#WRRC 21.1k done!
A last-minute change, I followed the 1:50 pacers instead of the 1:55s. I felt good on the starting line; today was the day.
I raced hard, and executed my plan to the last detail. When I finished, I had just about emptied the tank; I gave it all.
I'm most happy with the result. The finish time is one thing, but being able to control my race while pushing myself hard is what makes me proud now.

NEW PR
On the #WRRC 21.1k, I broke one of the time limits I have long eyed but not really believed I could touch. Finishing in 1:49:40, I beat that limit with 20 sec and improved my PR with 1:46.
Crossing the finish line, knowing I did this, was a pristine feeling of pure joy. I'm so happy.
I had four goals for the race:
1. Focus on joyful running
2. Stay in control of my race
3. Finish in less than 1:55:00
