    In an attempt to justify their killing of a Lebanese journalist, the Israeli military shares a photo of the journalist in a Hezbollah military uniform, arguing that that he was a terrorist.

    However, it now turns out, this “photo” was AI generated by the Israeli military, because they have no real evidence of a connection between the journalist and Hezbollah.

    France 24 has the story.

      @randahl I toss you an idea there. How about making this illegal?

      @ezeno @randahl

      making it illegal is the easy part

      it's enforcement that should be your concern

      if a law is not enforced, or can't be enforced, it has no meaning

      so i'm not saying don't fight AI disinfo. in fact i agree: make it illegal so at least there is a rationale to punish those guilty of it. as a starting point

      but then the real effort begins. how to identify it effectively. how to punish it effectively

      that's the hard part. the real work

      "illegal!" just doesn't cut it, alone

        @randahl Not hard to see why the state of Israel, as well as my own government, hates the ICC so much.

          @randahl Why is it always that every accusation is a confession with these folks, weren't they moaning about a real photo of one of their finest cosplaying as an IDF soldier, published in an Italian magazine, is AI as the wanna be sheppard of Palestinians wasn't the IDF supersoldier stereotype they perpetuate but just a real person.

            @randahl America and the EU has for decades has not come out openly and to demand that Israel establish a Palestinian state and end its killings against the Palestinians, under the pretext that 'Israel has the right to defend itself'. Decades of subjugation, killings at will, confiscation of land, settlements etc will naturally lead to what Hamas did. Shame on the world. #Israel #Palestine

              @randahl The Israelis are evil, let's face it. Turns out you can be a fascist even though others of the same ideology mass killed your great-grandparents by shooting them at ditches or in gas chambers that resembled showers.

                    @pg1958 we will find out at the Knesset elections on October 26, if this is Israel or just a rogue government.

                    For the Israelis' own sake, I hope they kick Netanyahu out.

                      @randahl I agree with you that he needs to go, same as trump in America but it's more than one person. The atrocities occurring in the West Bank, Gaza, America and now Lebanon are not one offs. They are evidence of a systemic societal problem imo.
